Kenia Almaraz Murillo at Château La Coste

Kenia Almaraz Murillo's work 'Ciudad de Oro' (2024) has been selected for participation in 'Une Chambre à Soi', an exhibition at Château La Coste, exhibiting alongside artists such as Etel Adnan, Genesis Belanger, Sophie Calle and Kiki Smith. 

Held at the Richard Rogers Drawing Gallery within the grounds of the estate, the exhibition brings together works which explore the experience of nighttime, from sunset to sunrise. Nighttime, and sleep has proven an important source of inspiration for Kenia, who in recent series has drawn inspiration from her dreams. She has described sleeping as being 'dead physically', with the possibility each time of not returning to the waking world.

Château la Coste, located between the historic city of Aix-En Provence and the Luberon National Park, his a rich artistic engagement in recent years, with Frank O. Gehry, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Louise Bourgeois, Richard Rogers, Sophie Calle, Prune Nourry, Tracey Emin and Jean Nouvel among the artists and architects who have created permanent structures for its grounds.

'Une Chambre à Soi' at Château la Coste runs from 14 September - 12 November 2024.
