In the Press: Kenia Almaraz Murillo

Profiles in Wallpaper & Artsy

Two coinciding profiles of the artist Kenia Almaraz Murillo were published in Artsy and Wallpaper on the opening day of her new exhibition, 'Andean Cosmovision' at Waddington Custot.

"Bolivian-born textile artist Kenia Almaraz Murillo is rethinking weaving’s traditional reputation with work that zigzags across mediums and references" writes Wallpaper Arts & Culture Editor Hannah Silver. "In her new London art exhibition, Murillo adorns her wall hangings with found, urban objects, from car headlights to motorbike headlamps, brilliantly lit up with curves of neon"

"Earlier this month, when Artsy visited Almaraz Murillo at her studio in an artistic community building in the arrondissement of Saint-Denis, she recalled her first return to Bolivia." writes Millen Brown-Ewens, "Some 15 years later, Almaraz Murillo is still attempting to capture this sense of wonder. Her new body of work for the Waddington Custot show is perhaps her most personal to date"
